
WHO WILL NOT BENEFIT FROM THE NEW ENFORCEMENT REGULATION?
In the regulation, the crimes defined in the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Chapters of the Fourth Part of the Second Book of the Turkish Penal Code, as well as crimes under the Anti-Terrorism Law and crimes committed are excluded from the scope. it is within the scope of organizational activity.
In other words, those convicted of crimes against the security of the state, constitutional order, national defense, state secrets, crimes against armed organizations, espionage crimes, as well as those convicted under the Anti-Terrorism Law will not benefit from this regulation and execution. Part of their sentences will continue in a closed prison.
The AKP and MHP introduced a similar regulation in 2020 and allowed those who remained in open prisons due to Covid. About 100 thousand convicts benefited from this. However, murder, drugs and sexual crimes were excluded from the scope. With the law that came into force on July 15, these crimes also benefited from a reduction in executions this time.
