WHAT IS THE NEW ENFORCEMENT REGULATION? HAVE THE OPEN PRISON PERMITS BEEN EXTENDED?
According to the law proposal adopted by the Parliamentary Planning and Budget Commission;
-31/7/2023 convicts who are on covid – 19 leave as of the date and have been on probation for 5 years or less will not return to prison again as of 31/7/2023 and will spend the rest of their time as convicts. Conditional release.
-31/7/2023 convicts who have been in closed penal institutions as of the date and have spent a certain period of their sentences in these institutions will be able to go to open penal institutions 3 years in advance, provided that they are in good health.
-In addition, these convicts will be able to be released on probation for 3 years in advance, provided that they stay at least 3 months in open penal institutions according to their sentence duration.
According to the accepted proposal;
as of 31/7/2023, the obligations of those who are on probation and are considered to be on leave will be lifted.
However, if these people commit crimes, they will go directly to prison.
With this arrangement, all the obligations of those who are on Covid-19 leave and those who are on probation will continue.”
