Alimony means child support. It refers to the financial contribution made by the spouse, whose custody was not granted to him as a result of the divorce, to the child’s maintenance and education expenses at the rate of his own strength. In this alimony, the defect rates of spouses in divorce are not taken into account. Alimony ends when the child reaches the age of 18, gets married or becomes a minor by court order. However, if the child’s education is continuing and other conditions are met, alimony may be requested, which we will examine below. Dependent alimony can be requested in divorce or separation cases, as well as in a separate case after a divorce or separation decision has been made.
