WHAT IS ALIMONY?
Alimony means child support. It refers to the monetary contribution made by the spouse, whose custody is not granted to him/her as a result of the divorce, to the child’s care and education expenses in proportion to his/her own power. The fault rates of the spouses in the divorce are not taken into account in this alimony. Child support ends when the child reaches the age of 18, gets married or comes of age with a court decision. However, if the child’s education continues and other conditions are met, alimony can be requested, which we will examine below. Alimony can be requested during the divorce or separation proceedings, or it can be requested in a separate proceeding after the divorce or separation is granted.
