A criminal complaint may be filed for the crime of fraud; reports or complaints related to the crime may be made to the Chief Prosecutor’s Office or law enforcement agencies. Reports or complaints made to the governor’s office, district governor’s office, or court are forwarded to the relevant Chief Prosecutor’s Office. Reports or complaints may also be made verbally, provided they are submitted in writing or recorded in a statement. If the victim does not explicitly withdraw their complaint after the investigation and prosecution stage, the trial will continue.
For the crime of fraud to be established, the perpetrator must engage in fraudulent behavior that could deceive someone, cause harm to themselves or another person, or benefit themselves or another person. Fraud is a qualified lie.
