FAMILY RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION
TR Foreign nationals who are married to Turkish citizens must obtain a residence permit after completing the registration process.
A family residence permit valid for up to three years is granted to the spouse of a Turkish citizen or a foreign national with a residence permit, to their minor children, and to children for whom they or their spouse are responsible.
Residence permits may also be granted to first-degree relatives of foreign nationals who have obtained a residence permit in Turkey for any reason.
A foreign national with a residence permit in Turkey is defined as a sponsor. Accordingly, the sponsor’s foreign spouse, the sponsor’s or spouse’s minor foreign child, and the sponsor’s or spouse’s foreign child, even if they have reached the age of 18, may apply for a family residence permit.
The foreigner applying for a family residence permit must be present at the appointment with their Turkish spouse or foreign spouse who has a residence permit in Turkey.
The immigration authority may inquire whether a marriage contract was signed within the marriage union and may request an investigation to determine this. If it is determined that the marriage was conducted through an arranged marriage by official institutions, the residence permit will be denied.
All documents obtained from abroad must be accompanied by an apostille and a notarized Turkish translation.
